Review: Written in the stars

Book: Written In the Stars

Author: Aisha Saeed

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
This book is the harsh reality of our world. Some people may think that this book is exaggerated but anyone who belongs to a desi background or is familiar with our culture knows that this happens alot in our countries. I respect parents decisions but living in a new era i think it’s essential for parents to know how hard and different the struggles are for a girl/woman than they were back in their age. Girls these days in our culture are often expected to not work hence they are not given proper education. But education isn’t just so you can get a job? Its vital for any human being to be educated, to have ethics, to be aware of how people are, and how the world operates.

Marrying your daughter off to a good man should not be the sole purpose of any parent. One major factor that Aisha pointed out was sexism. If a guy makes mistakes he wont be asked to stop his education and be forcefully married off. But God forbid if a girl does it.

Thank the lord, many people have moved on, many have changed, and many do understand the norms of the present world. Aisha’s book is a window to our worlds reality, telling us how much more we have to learn and pass on our knowledge so that once again one more Naila can be saved.
