Caraval is a circus/ magic show sort of an annual function. It is known to trick people with magic and illustrations. It is invitation only so people who want to go and/or perform need to be invited by the it’s master “Legend”. Every year Caraval has a task for its players and only one lucky person who achieves the task is granted a very special prize. Scarlett has been dreaming of going to Caraval since she can remember. Every year she used to write a letter to Master Legend pleading for him to send an invitation so she can see for herself if her grandma’s magical stories about Caraval are true. When Scarlett turns 17 her father arranges for her to get married but at the same time Scarlett receives an invitation for Caraval. She receives three tickets, one for her sister Donatella, and for herself and on for her fiancé. Scarlett is terrified because she has never left this island and whenever she has tried she has been beaten up by her abusive father. However, her sister Scarlett being a trouble maker arranges for her sister and herself to get off the island. But instead of her Fiancé, Donatella and Scarlett sneak out to visit Caraval with the help of a guy named Julian. But as soon as she reaches the island she finds out her sister Donatella has been kidnapped. And this year’s Caraval task is to find her sister Donatella. Scarlett will do anything to get back her sister back, as she plays the dangerous game full of illusions and tricks she realizes Caraval is not what she thought it would be. And her sister’s life might be in danger after all.

Caraval is a fantasy/romance/YA book, it was a really different read for me. Once i was done reading it I didn’t really know which book to compare it with because I haven’t really read anything similar before. But thanks to Caraval i will definitely read more books of this sort. Caraval was such an easy read, i loved the writing style of this book and i just loved atmospheric feels that this book had.
I can definitely see myself reading this book again and yes i will for sure read its second book whenever it comes out.
